The Miss Hollywood Follies II: Burlesque Against Breast Cancer

November 14, 2006 - On Tuesday, November 14, The Miss Hollywood Follies: Burlesque Against Breast Cancer II will debut at The Cutting Room (19 West 24 th Street, New York, NY) in order raise funds for CancerCare ( www.cancercare.org ), a charity dedicated to serving and supporting patients diagnosed with the deadly illness.   Taking fun and funny approach to fundraising, "Miss Hollywood" will feature performances from an all-star line up from New York's burlesque and variety arts scene. The evening will also boast a raffle for valuable prizes, a silent auction and perhaps even some celebrity guests.   Ticket prices range from $25 from General Admission to $50 for Priority Seating to $150 per couple for VIP Seating.

The brainchild of two lifelong friends, Miss Hollywood came about as a response to the loss of Founder and Co-Chair's mother to breast cancer in 2005. Together the friends hit upon the idea of asking burlesque performers to pitch in for a unique fundraiser designed to get younger men and women interested in a cause that affects so many.   So, with no money, no experience in fundraising and only two months from start to finish, they were somehow able to gather some of the biggest stars on the burlesque revival scene and raise almost $7,000 in one night for cancer research. This year they hope to more than double that for the recipient charity, CancerCare ( www.cancercare.org ).   The Miss Hollywood team consists of:

Cori Werner Neustein, Co-Chair:   Ms. Neustein runs her own successful flavors and fragrances company, and is a dedicated wife and mother.   "Miss Hollywood" is taken from her mother's, Maribeth Werner, nickname.

Ilise "Lady Aye" Carter, Co-Chair:   A merchandise analyst by day and fire-eater with her own all-girl sideshow by night, Ms. Carter will be emceeing this year's show.   She has also covered New York's burlesque and sideshow scene as a journalist and podcast filmmaker.

Jaime Gazes, Co-Chair:   An experienced fundraiser, who has worked with several notable New York not-for-profits, Ms. Gazes joined the Miss Hollywood team this year providing great industry expertise and insight.

Scheduled to perform at this year's fundraiser on November 14 at The Cutting Room are no less than six NY Burlesque Fest "Golden Pastie" Nominees: Little Brooklyn of Starshine Burlesque ( http://www.littlebrooklyn.com/ ), Nasty Canasta of Sweet & Nasty Burlesque ( www.nastycanasta.com ), Clams Casino ( www.clamscasino.com ), The World Famous *BoB* ( www.worldfamousbob.com ), Darlinda Just Darlinda ( www.darlindajustdarlinda.com ) and Professor Jo Boobs ( www.gstringsforever.com ), and one Miss Exotic World, Miss Dirty Martini ( www.missdirtymartini.com ).
